Mission
The mission of Nimitz Elementary School is to educate the whole child by focusing on literacy, problem solving, ensuring a joy of lifelong learning, incorporating mutual respect for our rich diversity, supporting the social and emotional growth of our student, and encouraging active parent involvement.

parent responsibilities
- Get your child to school on time
- Be involved in the education of your child
- Supervise homework
- Emphasize the importance of school and be supportive
- Be involved in student's behavior in and out of school
- Maintain open communication with the school
teacher responsibilities
- Inform parent of procedures used in classroom
- Maintain communication with the home
- Provide an environment conducive to learning
- Respond to the diverse needs of all students
- Maintain and increase sensitivity and awareness of the changing needs of students (social, emotional and physical)
- Be approachable and willing to help students
- Provide students with opportunities to develop their content skills as well as their ability to collaborate, create, think critically, and communicate effectively
Administration Responsibilities
- Coordinate communication between teacher, school, and home
- Support teachers, students, families and staff
- Provide incentives to encourage positive behaviors and academic achievement
- Provide a school wide discipline policy that promotes an environment conducive to learning
- Promote the implementation of the Common Core State Standards school-wide
