Mission

The mission of Nimitz Elementary School is to educate the whole child by focusing on literacy, problem solving, ensuring a joy of lifelong learning, incorporating mutual respect for our rich diversity, supporting the social and emotional growth of our student, and encouraging active parent involvement.

student responsibilities
  • Be Punctual
  • Come to class prepared and ready to learn.
  • Complete all assignments in a timely manner
  • Follow the School-Wide Discipline Policy
parent responsibilities
  • Get your child to school on time
  • Be involved in the education of your child
  • Supervise homework
  • Emphasize the importance of school and be supportive
  • Be involved in student's behavior in and out of school
  • Maintain open communication with the school
teacher responsibilities
  • Inform parent of procedures used in classroom
  • Maintain communication with the home
  • Provide an environment conducive to learning
  • Respond to the diverse needs of all students
  • Maintain and increase sensitivity and awareness of the changing needs of students (social, emotional and physical)
  • Be approachable and willing to help students
  • Provide students with opportunities to develop their content skills as well as their ability to collaborate, create, think critically, and communicate effectively
Administration Responsibilities
  • Coordinate communication between teacher, school, and home
  • Support teachers, students, families and staff
  • Provide incentives to encourage positive behaviors and academic achievement
  • Provide a school wide discipline policy that promotes an environment conducive to learning
  • Promote the implementation of the Common Core State Standards school-wide
