We are excited and looking forward to welcoming your student to Nimitz Elementary this Thursday, August 18th. We hope all families had a fabulous summer and that you were able to visit with family and friends and create wonderful memories. At Nimitz, we have been busily getting ready for the 2022-23 school year.

We are happy to announce that this year we will have more school events to bring students and families together. As we get ready to see all students on Thursday, August 18th at 8:00 am, we would like to remind parents about our campus pick-up and drop-off procedures. Daily Morning Arrival Window is between 7:45 AM and 8:00 AM. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00 AM. Upon arrival to campus, TK - K students should walk directly to their TK and K yards to line up in their designated line area. For grades 1 - 5 , students should line up on the blacktop at their classroom line. We will have signs and teachers waiting to greet you at these lines on the blacktop.
Nimitz is a closed campus for the security of our students and staff. Students may not leave the school campus during school hours. If you need to pick up your child before the normal dismissal time, you must sign him/her out in the office. No child will be released without the appropriate office sign-out.

We have two areas to drop-off and pick-up students at Nimitz. The first area is at the front of the school, you may either park in this lot or in the surrounding neighborhood area and walk your student to either the Kinder yard or to the front of the school. You may also drop your student off at the front of the school, using the loading curb. Please drive carefully and slowly and also be sure to use the designated crosswalks in the parking lot. The back drop-off is located on Cascade Dr. Please use caution when dropping off or picking-up students from this area and be sure to use the designated crosswalk to take your child to the back entrance of the school. We hope all families will be patient and follow these procedures during the school year, we want to ensure all our students and families are safe.

We welcome families to join us Monday mornings for our weekly Flagpole Ceremony at 8:00 am by the front office (Parent Zone). Grades 1 -5 participate in this weekly event. While parents are allowed to stay and listen, they will need to stay in the designated Parent Zone during the ceremony. Students will be with their classroom teacher and designated area during the ceremony.

I am looking forward to an amazing school year with your students. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I hope to see many of you at the Principal’s Welcome Chat Thursday, August 18th in the GLC.  Let’s Go Dolphins!
